I have a 1990 evinrude 50hp that I want to take the carbs off and put them on a 1997 Johnson 40hp. I know the 50hp carbs are physically different but would it work?

A reliable Johnson dealers parts counter might be of assistance,check the bolt pattern

The bolt pattern is the same, the major difference is the 1990 50 hp carbs don't have the top plate like the 1997 40 hp carbs.
