Old problem water in oil after changing impeller

"Hi guys, really hoping this insnt an expensive fix. My engine overheated the other day, broken impeller, rigged my livebait pump directly into the water pump and limped home, with engine running at normal temp. Replaced impeller and went out for a test run today, it was running at normal temperature but then started spitting milk out of the breather pipe into the flame arrestor. So limped home yet again. Now my question is, would the water be coming from a seal somewhere within the impeller housing, did it come from rain water on an exposed engine, I just built a new engine box and had the engine uncovered for a few days, the boat was covered but the engine was still wet when I took the cover off, or have I stuffed a head gasket or the head itself?? I know this is a toughy, thats why I'm trying to give as much info as possible. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Tobe"

Neither. Sounds like you blew a head gasket or cracked a head. The former being the most likely. Is this a 4 cylinder or a v8? If its frothing milkshake out of the breathers, its not rain water.

Suggest you act quickly to fix to minimize internal rust on cylinder walls. Let us know if you need step by step diagnostic instructions."

"I spoke to a mechanic about the problem, he reckons the seal behind the impeller is probably gone, meant to change it when you change the impeller apparently. I've already given the engine a good flush and replaced the oil and oil filter three times to get rid of any residue. Its an inline 6 AQ170 by the way. So fingers crossed and hope that the new seal will fix it."

"Well fantastic news, I've replaced the impeller/seals/gaskets and exhaust bellows just to be on the safe side. New plugs, engine belt and oil filter. Took three flushes to get the mayo out, and left it for a day inbetween every flush, to let the moisture evaporate, had first run and pressure test this afternoon, and its running like a new engine, I couldn't be more stoked. Got my boat for chrissy on Sydney harbour now, perfect.
