Old Monark boat, what is this plug for?

Hi all,

Last night I bought a 70's model 15' Monark fiberglass boat, with a 1979 Mercury 3 Cyl 70hp motor. The boat has a live well and in the live well I found about an 8ft cord with this connection on it. Does anyone know what this is for?

It looks like a mercury outboard harness others here will know better.

Thank you for the schematic, that will definitely come in handy when I get the motor up and mounted
