I have an old Johnson Motor that my dad bought used over 50 years ago. It is a Model 100 and the serial # is 235262. The sticker on the tank looks like it was a Seahorse. Any info anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated by my brothers and I.

Stuart.... There is more to that model number than that. What is the complete model number?

That is an old model # possibl

That is an old model # possibly from the 30's . I just looked it up in my manual and indeed it is a 1.7hp made in 36.

I backtracked that 1936 1.7hp

I backtracked that 1936 1.7hp model. My OMC guide states that a model J-80 is the 1936 1.7hp model.

I can find no model that listed as plain 100.

J-80 is listed as a 1.7hp 1936

J-80 is listed as a 1.7hp 1936 and a PLAIN 100 is also listed as 1.7hp for 1936.

"Stuart, if you scan / look ar

"Stuart, if you scan / look around this site you can find the model----- 100 -----listed. Plain as could be!"

"London...I'd be intereste

"London...I'd be interested in just exactly where the listing of model 100 is. If you have time, let me know how you came upon it."

Look around on MARINE ENGINE.

Look around on MARINE ENGINE. COM it is plain as can be.

I also have two listings (

I also have two listings (can't even begin to remember the source) for the 1936 1.7 horse - the J80 and simply the 100 - with the model 110 being the 1937 model (the only 3 models of 1.7 horse that I have in my mess of listings)...

"London... Plain as can be? Po

"London... Plain as can be? Possibly so but I have other things to do. I simply took for granted that you knew exactly how to get to that information and if so, I'd take a look at it but apparently that is not the case. No problem, we now all know what the engine is and that is what everyone was aiming for."

Click on " MANUALS " -

Click on " MANUALS " --------- then " JOHNSON " ---------- then " MODEL YEAR GUIDES " and there it is just 3 clicks.

1936 1.7hp.... two model numbe

1936 1.7hp.... two model numbers. Hopefully they eliminated the responsible party in 1937.
