Old Evinrude v4 90 HP Power Issue

Help needed!

I’ve started a small boat project that came with an old Evinrude v4 90 HP outboard.

When I first got the engine it would turn over but not start. The wiring on the console wasn’t the best so did a rewire of the ignition and fresh fuel, bingo started up! It did run very rough which I expected so didn’t run it long and decided to check the spark to each plug. When I went to turn it over again after connecting the tester nothing, totally dead! Which felt like no power. Also trim stop working, again felt like no power.

I have tested the battery, all good showing 12v. Tested power at the motor, again all good. Checked the 20A fuse that was all good. Next check power at the ignition, again all good showing 12v. When I tried the local trim switch on the motor that is dead as well. I did hear a slightly odd crackle coming from the pack directly at the back of the engine. Not sure what the role of the pack is? Have included a the trim switch does run into the pack.

Any ideas on what it might be or further things to try to fault find the issue? Any suggestions welcome.

Just trying to work out what would cause an issue across the two both at once together!?

Might try and work through the starter issue see if that gets me anywhere ………

It’s just over 12v. Why no good? It’s a 12v battery? It has started the motor previously to the problem.

I’ll be interested to know as was thinking maybe it’s lost power and needs a top up charge.

You said 12 volts !----A good battery is 12.4 volts or more.----Details count.----Good luck with the wiring and the motor.
