"Greetings all, I have a quick question for you please.

Picked up a 5.5 HP for my Jon boat. Old motor, the guy that had it thought it was a 1963. To check that I came here, but the list is all by model number. The only thing I can find on the plate is the serial number: 54028-E02584. Now I went to the 5.5 horse section and one of the model numbers for 1964 is 5402, which is also the 1st 4 digits of the serial number. Is this motor a 1964? I found no place to search by serial number.

5402 = 1964

No where to look up serial numbers although i believe dealers have access to info.

Bingo, went out and looked at it through the other part of my bifocals, and sure enough it's a 'B'. Thanks Vic."
