Old evinrude 95 water pump problems

I have a older 9.5 evinrude a

I have a older 9.5 evinrude a friend gave me. Set up for ten years but started on the fourth pull. Only problem no water coming out of rubber tube going to motor cover where it should spit it out. Removed pump nothing wrong with it. Took rest of bottom section off up to the motor itself and ran air into water inlet on bottom of motor. The majority of air is coming out of the exhaust port not where the water usually comes out. Talking to bro in law and he said not sure but motor might be busted. Any thoughts on this matter?

"inst a NEW impeller...i assure u it is,or will be bad...ck thermostat.look for obstruction in wtr tube/and intake area.also,..rebuild that carb,regardless of how it runs."

thanks jwb I am new to boat motors and didnt even know they had thermostats. I will definetly check out what u mentioned.
 
Drop the leg and replace the w

Drop the leg and replace the water pump then remove the thermo and run the engine...you should have good water flow ouit the top.
If alls ok fit a new thermo.
