old 6 horse

have a old johnson 6 horse think its a 1961 model..problem is that it only runs when its choked ,,take it off choke it dies,, I cleaned carb, cleaned fuel pump, changed tanks, changed tank to motor fuel line and bulb, cleaned spark plugs. any ideas??

No 6 HP in 61----------------------Did you remove the high speed jet / orifice in the bottom of the carburetor bowl to clean it ????

yes----------------- jet was removed as was float and needle------------------ every hole was blasted with carb cleaner

Having to use choke clearly indicates a fuel problem.------------------I would say you have to revisit cleaning of the carburetor.---------Will spark jump a gap of 1/4" on both plug wires ???

cleaned carb again,,,,slow speed jet orifice was clogged running fine now,,,Thanks
