Oil to gas

"OK, you got me curious as it seems there must be a central reference for someithg this basic. Here it is:

----------------------------------------------
Q - What is the fuel/oil mix for my motor?

A - The following is generally true: 1958 and prior used 20:1, 1959 thru 1963 used 24:1, 1964 and newer use 50:1. High performance usage (racing) requires a ratio of 25:1. New engine break-in (not DI) requires 25:1.
-------------------------------------------

So, that would be 2.56 oz of an oil rated for that use, per gallon of gas - maybe 2.6 would be safer.

If you are mixing 5 gallons for convenience or better accuracy, that would be 12.8 oz of oil. I'd go 13 oz oil in five gallons gas, just to be safe (and lucky!)."

1 pint of oil (or 16oz&#4

1 pint of oil (or 16oz) in 6 gallons of gasoline is 48:1 which is near enough 50:1

Or 1/2 pint (8oz) in 3 gallons

For a 24:1 mix for older engines thats 2 pints in 6 gallons or 1 pint in 3 gallons.

Outside the USA in the rest of the world we use litres and millilitres Doesn't half make fuel mixes easy to work out!

"I get fantastic performance,

"I get fantastic performance, economy and longevity on my many motors of that vintage by using 2oz AMSOIL 2 stroke PRE-MIX oil per gallon of non alc. fuel. Thats 64:1. Mix 2 or more gallons at a time for better accuracy. Doesn't matter if your trolling or cruising. Also, a set of plugs will last the whole season long and you will minimize carbon deposits which shorten engine life. Good luck, Tim"
