"I have a 1994 115 Mercury which leaks oil from the lid of the plastic VRO tank. The leak occurs whenever the motor is tilted. I have replaced the gasket and tryed to keep the tank less than full but to no avail. I asked the local dealer about ordering a new one and he tells me they "all leak". My question is for anyone who has experience with this problem on this motor. The tank is $80.00 and it seems the cap and related parts are sold separately. The tank looks fine, the cap fits tightly and the only thing I can guess is that the gasket design is less than perfect. My next step will be to make my own thicker gasket or to try using two gaskets. I bought this motor last year and with the help of several people on this site, I rebuilt the carbs, sychronized the linkage, adjusted the timing, idle and oil pump. The engine actually runs quite well and even the 2 to 4 transition is not really too bad. This oil leak problem is annoying and I would like to hear from anyone who has corrected the problem.
