Oil sump flush

Came across a 2003 50EFI 4 stroke for a song and a dance. I was told it had sat a while. I filled up the oil(it was shipped to me empty) changed the plugs and took it out. It ran fine for 3 hrs, then I got the constant alarm so I shut it down. It would idle, but as soon as I tried to accelerate, the alarm came on and back to idle. Took a tow back to the ramp and went home. Went to change the oil(it smelled of gas) and it wouldn't drain. Stuck a screwdriver in the drain hole and I feel this gummy blob. Out comes the oil. Once it's empty I start pulling out pieces of the blob with a pick. This stuff is the consistency of tar. I think the blob broke lose after running for awhile and plugged up the pick up tube. My question is how do I flush this crap out of my motor. I really don't want to disassemble the lower to clean it out. I thought about filling it up with gas and letting it soak but I don't know if the gas would hurt seals in that lower. Any thoughts?
