Oil pressure gauge "nutty"

My portside oil pressure gauge is fluctuating from 30 to 45 psi. Hopefully its the sending unit? Any ideas? Could it be the gauge? 1988 454/350 Crusaders 1200 hrs.

Connect a mechanical gauge, and verify...... or simply replace the oil pressure gauge sending unit.

FYI..... a Dual Station boat requires a dual station sender and visa-versa for a single station.

Thanks Rick! Single station. Don't mean to sound dumb but is this Crusader priority or can I purchase this at an auto supply? I have VDO gauges.

The sender units for single station are different for dual stations. If so, an automotive unit should work, but check her with a mechanical gage first.

PS: If the readings are accurate, then your oil pump's relief valve is sticking.

You'll want the real McCoy in the Marine single station version, and with a screw down terminal.



The automotive will likely be a push-on connection, and may not be of the correct resistance value.
