Oil on water

i have a 71 Johnson 50hp hydro

i have a 71 Johnson 50hp hydro electric glide that i was running in a tub and noticed that there was a black oily residue on top of the water. Is this bad?

Probably not. Black oily resiu

Probably not. Black oily resiues are usually just partly burnt oil from the fuel.

Check around your gear case for signs of gear case oil leaking and check the oil for signs of water ingress
