Oil level in tank

TP3

Got a 225hp ox66 2000. Should the oil level in the tank mounted on the motor be at the top mark or does it go up and down between the high and low level marks? My alarm is going on and off and motor is cool to touch on the heads so I am assuming oil level is the alarm. My oil level is right on the low level mark, could I pull the sensor up a little to see if it fills? how long should it take to fill? Have not had time to look at it but will start this weekend with filters. Need to know how to check the oil pump from remote tank. Had motor 5 years now all good, o2 sensor clean -new water pump and thermostats-cleaned vst filter.

The level normally varies between the full mark and the mid mark. Once it goes down to the mid mark the oil pump comes on and refills the tank. Over and over again without it normally being seen. If and when no more oil gets transferred (for several reasons) the alarm will sound when the main tank gets low.

First test is to see if the pump runs using the toggle switch. And if it runs does oil transfer? If yes and no then check the filter/strainer on the remote oil tank.

If the toggle switch does not make the pump run test the pump by connecting a battery directly to it. If the pump then works more than likely it is defective wire to the pump. If the pump does not work the pump is failed.

If the toggle switch makes the pump run, and oil flows to the main tank, then wiring to the sensor switch in the remote oil tank is defective.

Check the wiring, check the wiring, check the wiring.

I took out the tank because when I flip switch no oil. Pump is corroded pretty bad so gonna replace it. Thanks again
