1995 Evinrude 150 Ocean Pro

ran motor last week. Can back and oil was streaked down the back. Also fresh oil coming out of the foot.

Motor fired right up and ran great.
What could be causing this?

I retired in 1991 so the design and circuitry of your engine is somewhat foreign to me which is the reason I held off replying, waiting for another member to chime in. However, since no one has, I'll stick my two cents worth in.

If indeed "fresh oil" is dripping out your lower unit area, it would be a good idea to check the lower unit for leakage as follows.

Also, keep in mind that water is heavier than oil and that if oil is leaking out of the lower unit... water would be seeping in. In a vertical position such as you have your engine pictured here, after sitting for a few hours, if water exists within your lower unit, pure water would be flowing out the bottom drain screw as soon as you remove it.

(Checking Gearcase For Leaks)
(J.Reeves)

Remove the large slotted drain/fill screw from the bottom of the gearcase and also the identical looking screw that will be located up near the cavitation plate in order to drain the gearlube.

After all of the lubricant has drained, install one of the slotted screws, whichever your preference might be.

Apply 7 to 12 pounds of air pressure to the open screw hole. Use a piece of rubber fuel line or something to create a tight air hose fit if you do not have a proper fitting.

If a leak exists, that pressure should allow you to locate the leak by sound and/or sight.

Thousands of parts in my remaining stock. Not able to list them all. Let me know what you need and I'll look it up for you. Visit my eBay auction at:
