Oil leak

"have an oil leak from behind

"have an oil leak from behind the crank pully, there appears to be some sort of cover there whats behind this is it a pully, gear of timing chain, the engine is a 3ltr lx . its a drop every 5 min . any picks would be helpfull thanks in advance"

"I'd have to say that it&#

"I'd have to say that it's most likely the dampner seal on the timing cover(#15 on the diagram), If you have room (about 6-8") you should be able to do it without taking the engine out, at least lift the front up. You will need to suspend the engine at the front and remove the front mount, but DO NOT TOUCH the bolts and nuts immediately in front of the water pump these adjust the angle of the engine, ONLY remove the bolts on sides and the 2 at the bottom.

The seal can be removed without taking the timing cover off but you will need a puller for the Dampner. If you cant do it that way or you want to replace the timing cover gaskets, you'll need to pull the engine as the pan will need to come off to do it right, but there are ways around that. ( i did it today on my inline 6 ) very close to the 2.5L and 3.0L

The seal and gaskets are also the same as my engine which is the same as a 70's and 80's GM 4.1L 250ci Engine available at any parts store.
MarineEngine.com has them too.."
