Oil leak AQ225D

:confused:I fitted a replacement AQ225D back in the spring. It is low hours and generally runs nicely, but it is dumping a LOT of oil in the bilge....and I can't see anywhere obvious it's coming out. The guy I bought from fitted a new sump, so that was my first suspect, so I've been round and tweaked the bolts on that, but there isn't really any large amount of oil in evidence. What oil I can find seems to be coming down the block on the left side-and the dipstick tube doesn't seem to be fully home-what holds that in place-is it just a push fit? I've also tried tightening the rocker cover bolts, but at the moment nothing seems to be having any effect...

On "port side" (not "left" side, you landlubber!!!!) :D you have the oil filter, and it may be loose.

Also, if your engine is pre-1979 you also have the dipstick on port side. If the disptick tube is corroded or not properly pressed-in, it will leak oil.

I would also check the oil pressure transducer, which is mounted on the aft side of the V of the engine.

aye aye cap'n, port it is , of course :)
oil filter is tight, will check the transducer, the dipstick tube is at least 1/4inch 'proud' of the .....what's the opposite of 'waisted'?.....section, so will see if I can insert it any further...and report back.
