Oil injection

Hi guys I had a question my son has a 1995 40 horse Mercury 4 cycle my question is we had to replace the bottom oil line it had broke and all the oil ran out of the tank when we replaced the hose got that repaired filled up the tank we don't see any oil going into the oil pump or injection pump how long does it normally take I assume that works off for vacuum so will that eventually suck that through or should we prime that.

Please be very clear with questions.------You say you have a 4 cycle motor.------Then you talk about an oil tank and oil injection ??----Hurry see a shop as mistakes here will be expensive !
