oil injection 40 hp

i'm wanting to know if i need to do any cleaning or dissassembly of the vro unit if i'm cleaning my carbs on my 86 40 hp jnsn. also wondering is this where my fuel pump is located.

The VRO is a combination fuel pump / oil mixing pump.---------------------Many people disable the oil pumping part and mix at 50:1 themselves.---------------No need to clean the VRO unit.-------------It is worth checking the fuel pump diaphragm as they are often not in good shape.----------The older VRO pumps are not considered reliable by some and you risk serious damage to the motor.--------Does the VRO unit on your have any wires attached ( warning system ) and if so it may have been replaced at some time.

Are you cleaning those carburetors simply on general princibles or does a performance problem exist?
