Oil consumption question

I just purchased a 2004 HS Vec

I just purchased a 2004 HS Vector 2400 powered by a 250 DI motor. Friend with same boat is powered by a 300 HPDI. He averages 3 gallons per 100 hours running time. Does this seem reasonable? It seems low to me.

I ask because I am trying to figure out how much oil to buy...3 gallons or a case of 6.

HPDI? Sounds like Yamaha.

E-tec/Ficht = Evinrude.
Oil consumption may vary depending on computer setting.
The E-techs may be set to about 1% providing You use XD-100 oil. Factory setting however is around 2%.
