"Mike, there is enough Force owners on this site that maybe you want to start a site
Bayliner started the Force line when they bought out what was left of Chrysler Outboard division in January of 84 and started their U.S. Marine division.
Your particular model, the 120 horse series, was built a few years after Force was acquired from Brunswicks buyout of Bayliner in 1986 and given to Merc.
Force was/is a budget motor that runs reasonably well. I know of a couple that are approaching 20 years old, have been little to no trouble. Their reputation is far worse than I have personally seen.
But you should be vigilant with regular maintenance. It is difficult to find someone to work on these and in some cases parts are hard to find.
For the most part, parts for your model are readily available from a Merc dealer or in the aftermarket as Andrew noted. There is a good chance that the 120's used a number of Merc parts in addition to the original Chrysler.
The one exception that I am aware of is the carbs. Believe there is Tillotson carbs on your motor. In 1988 Merc issued a service bulletin stating that they could no longer get certain parts for Tillotson carbs, but would continue marketing a repair kit (less the discontinued components).
This however didn't stop them from using up their existing stock of carbs on the Force line, despite having switched to Walbro's on the Merc models of similar horsepower.
If the motor is running well, take care of it..."
