"I just bought a boat a month

"I just bought a boat a month and a half ago and it has an 84 omc (v8). It is fresh water cooled. The set-up is much different than any drawing I have found online. First on top of the intake there are only two hoses connected to where the thermostat would be (but there is no thermostat), these hoses run to the risers. The odd thing is the hose coming from the outdrive runs directly to another pump which runs off a belt on the front of the engine (but not the regular water pump in the center, it has one of those too) On Wednesday, I put the boat in and started it, when I was getting ready to leave the dock, the temp was a little high, I waited, tried to rev the engine etc. and the temp just kept rising, until I finally just shut it off and took it home. With so many pumps where do I begin to start?? Does anybody have, or is familiar with this tripple pump setup?"

"I think some picks would help

"I think some picks would help ease the confusion.
Roughly I think You have a 'modified' cooling system where the drive-pump has been replaced, and that Your risers are fresh-water cooled, but please some pics."

"I will get some pics in the m

"I will get some pics in the morning, is there a chance that there is no outdrive pump at all? and since there are two lines coming "out" of the thermostat housing, where is the in?"

Sounds like maybe someone has

Sounds like maybe someone has swapped in an engine from a Volvo penta setup or something where there's a crank driven water pump.

"morten, I am having trouble w

"morten, I am having trouble with the camera, not charging properly, I did talk to on of the dinasaur mechanics in the area who knows quite a bit about these outdrives (he has a '64) He is too busy to look at it but did give me a couple of things to check, so I will be back with more info later"

"well I hooked up the ears and

"well I hooked up the ears and disconnected the water hose from the outdrive, started the old girl up and got NOTHING, so I need to change the water pump out, any recommendations??"
