Ran great, turnned it off to fish then it would not start or fire. I brought it home and remove the spark plugs. they looked wet but good. i removed the wire to the spark plug and stuck a screw driver in it and pulled the cord while holding the spark plug and screw driver in my fist. Should I feel a spark? I felt nothing, I leaned my arm aginst the engine, with out the engine, I figure I should be getting the sh*%T Shocked out of me. Sooo I figue I have no spark. I checked all wires for grounding points and all wires look good. I removed flywheel to see what is under it. I found two so called magnites that had a coil between them which feed the coil.

I looked up a new coil $250 No-way. Is their a way to test the coil and test the coil wrap underneath the flywheel? What should my next step be?
Thanks, Paul

Thank you, I forgot to mention that I took the ruber boot off the kill switch and removed the steel cap that shorts the two wires together, so that should not be the problem.

If in doubt about ignition components, use chapter 7 of your Factory service manual (available at any dealer -- don't bother with the aftermarket manuals) as a guide, and armed with an analog (not digital) multimeter with DVA capability, test the exciter, and the combined CD/ignition coil.

The easy way to isolate the stop switch out of the circuit is to disconnect the brown wire at the bullet connector, rather than disassembling the switch.

Once you diagnose the problem, if you need a part, here are the part numbers and MSRP pricing:

3B2061200MEXCITER COIL$54.74

3B2061700MC.D. IGNITION UNIT (F8T11073/7Y27)$273.19

398068300MSTOP SWITCH ASSY W/LANYARD$44.59
