Yamaha 150 HPDI 2004 . I have twin 150's ,( yes twin problems ) changing my plugs I noticed that one cylinder was not firing ( clean plug ). I swapped the coil and harness and cap from another position and still had the same problem. The engine runs and sounds good on 5 Cylinders ?. Any Idea, It would help.

thats normal when not in gear
you need to use a timing light and run it in gear and see if it works
if not its the shift switch

I remember reading something about only running on 4 or 5 cly. at idle. But I didn't make it clear of my problem . I been making trips out fishing and running it at Hi RPMS in gear. When I checked the plugs #3 was clean. After checking and found the wiring OK it came to me that the plug was to clean . Did not have fuel on it . If it was not firing it should be wet I guess. So now do you think it is a fuel / injector problem ? Thanks for your reply

use a timing light to check for spark
then your going to use a screw driver on the injector and put your ear to the screwdriver, u should hear it clicking
if not check for power at the injector plug
best way is to just unplug the injector and see if the rpms drop

A PFM I guess. I tried listening but could not tell by my ear what I was hearing or not hearing. I disconnect the plug on the injector ,cleaned it and rang out the wiring. Put it all back together and it works. Don't know what I did but if it happens again I know where to look. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
