Non-VRO pump for 98 SPL 50

My local dealer can't seem to get the fuel pump I need to convert my 1998 50 SPL to a standard fuel pump. It was recommended by some on here to use one from a 48HP. Does anyone know what part number I need to get, or the year and model that uses the same pump?? I know I need the bolts and the gasket as well.
I'm guessing its either a 0438556 whic uses the crank pressure from the side of the cyclinder or 0438557 which uses the pulse from the same line as the VRO pump.

Thanks

So sad that dealers do not want to help !!----Look it up on this site for any one of the 48 HP models or even a 40 /45 HP commercial model.

He has actually been helpful just that the part is on backorder from wherever he gets the parts. I feel bad going else where to buy it because he has been helpful but I don't want to wait any longer when I see them in stock here.

There is not 48HP model for 98....the closest is 96 but it has a 3 port pump instead of the two... trying to figure out which one to get.

So can anyone tell me which pump to get?? For 1998 50 it shows part number 0438557... the price is about half for the 0438556. I don't want to waist money getting the wrong part.

I did not indicate what year 48 HP.----------It does not matter what year 48 HP !!!---In this case the fuel pumps all work the same way.----Myself I would likely fit a fuel pump from an early 1960's 40 hp Evinrude or Johnson.-These come with a good filter and sightglass to seperate water.-Have lots of them on the shelf.
