"hello everyone, i am new to this board and have a question.

i have been baffled by my motor not wanting to turn over. i reached in and turned the key, only to hear a click in the slave solenoid.

i tested the starter slave solenoid and found it to be bad, so i replaced it with one that i had from another motor.

i turned the key, and got a click in the starter but it did not engage.

i pulled the starter only to find that its frozen.

$200.00 later, new starter in, wiring back to normal, hit the key and all i got was a click back in the slave solenoid, no further.

i pulled the test light out and got light on all 4 terminals with the key in the on position, so i believe that the slave is in good condition.

if i jump the two main lugs on the slave, it will not engage the starter but if i jump the mains on the starter, it whirrrrs.

any ideas on what could be wrong, im going nuts.

thank you in advance for your sharing of knowledge.

"And your sure the slave is getting good voltage and all battery cable connections are clean?

Well, somethings not right, could be me, you shouldn't have light on all 4 terminals with the key on, that just one of the big lugs and there should be power there with the key off.

Do you have manual with a wiring diagram for your engine ?"

i am getting good voltage and

i am getting good voltage and the connections were cleaned last week.

maybe im not sure how to test the slave then.

any help?

i do have a manual but seloc isnt descriptive enough when it comes to troubleshooting this type of problem.

disconnect the yellow wire w/r

disconnect the yellow wire w/red stripe on both ends; solenoid and key switch. Put shifter in neutral. Use an ohmmeter on the 1K position; should read "0" ohms if good.
