i have a AQ125B and it runs go

i have a AQ125B and it runs good but there is a rattling noise comin from the manifold. ANd also when i turn there is like a vibration comin from the bell housing or around in that area. Could someone give me some ideas about whats goin on?

"Sounds like the gimball beari

"Sounds like the gimball bearing, or universal joints may be on their way out. You will notice this most when you turn hard in either direction. The univeral joints are easy to check, gimball bearing requires pulling the engine to replace. If you have a zerk fitting on the bellhouse to grease the gimball go ahead and do so. See if that quiets things down."

ok thanks and it does get wors

ok thanks and it does get worse when i turn hard. Do you know where i can find a break down of the outdrive? I Am very new to boats.

My 270 was rattling as well an

My 270 was rattling as well and EL pointed out where the Zerk fitting was. It took 15 pumps of grease and the rattle is no more.

ok im gonna check into that. I

ok im gonna check into that. I know its hard to explain where it is at but could someone give me an idea?

if it is the u joint can i tak

if it is the u joint can i take it to a parts store and get them to match it or does it have to be an original part?

I greased that gimball bearing

I greased that gimball bearing and still the noise seems like it is coming from where the exhaust manifold connects to the rubber boot? any more ideas?

and also when i open it up it

and also when i open it up it has good acceleration but when it reaches top speed it seems to kinda slow down a little sometimes. It only does it sometimes? could that maybe be rotor or plugs or somethin like that?

You may be hearing 'detona

You may be hearing 'detonation'. Attach a timing light and ensure the engine is timed correctly.

I replaced the timing belt abo

I replaced the timing belt about a month ago and when i did i used a timing light to make sure that it was and it is in correct time.

alright el i pulled the drive

alright el i pulled the drive and seen that the u joints were not the problem but the shaft that comes from the bell housing has slack in it and there was also a little oil in the boot where the u joints were. Is that slack in that shaft normal. and i also greased the gimball bearing.

IS that the gimball bearing? D

IS that the gimball bearing? Do i have to pull the engine to change it? And can i get this part from this website?

"1) Yes.

2) If ther

"1) Yes.

2) If there is play, the bearing is likely gone and you will have to pull engine and bellhousing together to replace it.

3) I don't think this website sells those bearings, but any bearing supplier should be able to get you one; just take the old one as a sample."
