"I have a 1996 mariner out boa

"I have a 1996 mariner out board, when running at idle or faster i dont get much water coming out the weep hole and some times nothing at at all, i do get air moving through though. since I live in a cold climate is it possable to have a chunk of ice some where in the lower unit that would block flow? is there any type of thermostat on the motor that might not be opening. and last is it hard to replace the water impeller, can it be done by some pune with out experience?"

"What size engine? I have a 9

"What size engine? I have a 9.9 4 stoke that has a thermostat that opens and closes a lot during cold water conditions. The "weep" hole is actually the circulated water running through the cooling ports of your engine. I have lots of hours on this 1996 engine and have never put an impeller in. Sorry, can't help you here. My 1996 175 HP Mariner EFI is somewhat tricky, but I have put 2 impellers in myself. You have to drop the lower unit which, if you're not mechanical may be a reach. Probably want a service tech handling this."

"25 2S is easy. This can be do

"25 2S is easy. This can be done. What you need to know is the shifter disconects with a flip lock pin down in the bucket. If you have electric start, remove the starter. **** On top of that shift shaft is a small flat washer for the auto reverse lock. Don't forget to put it back in if it falls out or was never there. A lot are missing. People don't know that is should be there. ****

Than drop the case. The impeller might not go back in by forcing the lid down/twist like the big engines. You might "have to" put it in by hand. Carefully.
be careful with the thermostat bolts on the 25. They break easy and can't really be heilcoiled. The ear comes off the block. is so thin there is no room for oversize."
