"I recently purchased a 1988 225HP VRO. It seemed to be running fine at home on a flush hose and in the water all the way out from the boat ramp. When I went to speed up all seems fine until approximately 2800 RPM then it develops no more power and it has a very noticible stutter and vibration. Throttle down and it runs smooth. Any suggestions as to what might be the problem. I did disconnect the VRO as per the instructions posted here, any help is appreciated

"Just put it on a flush rig in the drive way it seems like the RPM's will go as high as you would want, dont like having it that high on the flush hose but it will go above 5000

"5000.on a flushette........is asking for trbl..that u def dont want....ck compression,spark,timer base for full movement,carb sync,for full opening......i recommend a factory service manual...and if u open it up again to 5000 on a flushette,...u r gonna need it."

thanks for the help, you where right with the service manual. That will teach me to be lazy, led me right to it turned out to be the power pack. I was able to buy a used one for $90.00 and it runs like a champ.
