No top end power to Prop

I have mercury 402 2 cyld 2 stroke 40 hp donot know the year

It will putt putt around nice sound of engine (correct RPM)
But then I gave it gas the RPMs (screamming engine) go up but more speed to the boat it just putt putts around

Any Ideas on the problem

looks like a good flow of water no cavition

I think your prop is spun.Draw a line across the hub take it for a spin,let her scream for a second and see if the line is still in one piece
