 Im buying a boat with a 2003 Mercury 200LX SWB. I noticed when the switch is turned from off to on, there is no beep sound indicating that the alarm system is working properly. Any idea on how to troubleshoot this issue? Thanks

i would not buy the boat without it working.....it may be disconnected for a reason.....like running hot at high rpm or something like that.....

ProCraft built my boat w/o the key on beep module to save money. They used just a standard keyswitch mounted in the dash. I found out the alarm lost its 12 volt supply when I tested it. I ran a 12 volt wire to the alarm and then grounded the tan/blue wire on the temp switch and the alarm sounded. I installed a 12 volt source to a small momentary push to make horn switch for testing the alarm. Mounted it just under the dash below the key switch. Now I can test it at each start,

these boat manufacturers are cheap as hell on wiring in general....two things get to me...one is access to the area under the console....the 2nd is the crimping of the wires.....i worked for a warrant officer many years ago in the navy that took a stripe away if he even saw you with a crimping tool.....what happened to good old solder?
