No Spark

"We have a 1963-40 h.p. model RK-25 ser:3C3763 61
It has not been used for a few years.
The starter turns over good, gas gets to the spark plugs ok, but no spark.(any suggestions?)
Would any one know the wiring color coding?

pull the flywheel! likely the

pull the flywheel! likely the coils are cracked and need replacement. Put in 2 sets of points and condensers as well.

As not-a-student says pull the flywheel. Close the points and try cleaning the points with fine sand paper to get the corrosion off. Poor mans method if you don't have the tools is after cleaning with sand paper run a dollar bill through the points to knock off any minute sand particles. If pointe gap is around .020 a match book cover is about equal. Unless coils are totally trashed not just cracked they should give some spark. Of course in the middle of the lake is not the place to learn the cracked coils are trashed. If in doubt replace.
