"New to this forum and could sure use the expertise and advice from some here that are so great at diagnosing. !975 Merc 90 wont spark. New starter. Turns over fine. Just not firing. No spark to plugs. One thing...son reversed cabless when reattaching battery and cranked it. Course, starter spun backward but runs fine now with cablesin right places. Ran great last anuary. Coil get fried on the reverse? Need to start eleminating things and hoping NOT the switch box. Please help! Thanks in advance!"

You can only test the switchbo

You can only test the switchbox with special equipment like a DVA. Even then you can only check the input and output voltages. Your rectifier is definately toast too.
