No spark Help

"1983 Merc 40 (40 hp twin&

"1983 Merc 40 (40 hp twin). No ignition after being dropped on its head (by those dopes at DHL). Impact broke the top cowl and crushed the belly band.

All connections in ignition system look good. There is resistance readings on both trigger and ignition coils. I disconnected kill button wire, to bew sure it wasn't tricking me, but still nothing.

Tried a used '84 spark box for same engine, still nothing.

I'm stumpted! Anyone got an idea?

"hey Jeff did you try the tilt/mercury switch on the left side? Is the control box hooked up. Glad to see you found a good 40, thats the same as mine, John"
 
"Thanks! That wasn't it,

"Thanks! That wasn't it, but you were really close! There's a wire grounded in the harness somewhere. I had disconnected BOTH of the black/ yellow wires at the coil, not realizing one of them went to the, ah-hem, coil. Doh!
