No Spark - 350 Mag MPI - Test Indicates ECM - No replacement available?

I have a no spark issue that I believe I've traced back to the ECM. My engine I believe is a 2000 model, the S/N 0L692611. I tried searching and couldn't find anything that fit my concern.

I have 12V at the coil and the distributor, I get no spark from the coil, I replaced the coil still no spark, and I tried removing the green white wire from the distributor and touching it to ground and still yet no spark. The coil is capable of making spark if I run 12v directly to it.

I used a Mercury Service Bulletin 92-11 to track down the issue. It was written for a Thunderbolt IV ignition but after talking to a parts provider my S/N motor is not a thunderbolt, at any rate the wiring diagram and troubleshooting explained on the bulletin matched my boat perfectly.

Up until this point I thought I needed a new ICM until I was told my boat doesn't have an ICM, only an ECM, then he went on to tell me it is out of production (861927T 3) and the conversion kit they used to sell (891895A01) for $2,500 is no longer produced either.

Now I'm stuck not knowing what to do, or even if my motor can be repaired at this point. Has anyone else dealt with this? Is it possible there is some difference in the ignition systems I'm overlooking?

Thanks in Advance!

you should have a thunderbolt V system...similar troubleshooting to a IV but a bit different....and when you ground out the GRN/WHT wire, it needs to be at a rpaid cycle - not just ground it and hold it...

on the ECU, you should be able to get a GM number off of the back...you can then use the www to find out if its a MEF-3 or -4 and then find a replacement, if that is what you need...

Thank you for the feedback. I'm also having some wiring issues with the ground on my battery cable getting hot. I'm going to clean up and replace some of the wiring first then I'll get back to testing this out. I'll report back once I get sort out the wiring problem and have a chance to test again.
