I have just got 1995 boat that has twin 200's. The boat has not been used for over 5yrs. I disconnected fuel hose and used a 50:1 pre mix with a remote fuel tank but / both engines have no spark. I felt that must be somthing related to both engines so i replaced the kill swith/ still no spark. i disconnected the big red wire connector on side of engine and check for spark by jumping starter solinoid still no spark. looking at the stator it looks very rusty. CAN RUST CAUSE NO START (maybe interfearing with pick up)? I have read people having problems with the magnets coming off. can you see them without taking off flywheel.
Can you ohm out the stator and if so what should the readings be on each wire. if the stator is bad how can it test the diode (in retifier) that prevents battery voltage from burnng up my new stator?
