"Strange problem. Last week we had been trolling for most of the morning at idle speed when the engine quit. This is a used 2000 50hp motor with unknown hours on it on a 18' pontoon. We have put 15-20 hours on with no problems I re-started it after a fair amount of cranking and got it run for a few seconds on one cylinder. Again tried to re-start and was having no success until I pumped up the primer bulb. I did get it restarted then. Started back to the dock and just the engine was passing through 2000rpm the "NO Oil" light came on and it quit again. Pumped the bulb back up restarted with the same result. Fearing that I might burn the motor up with no oil pressure I got a tow back the dock. At the dock I was able to load it on the trailer with the engine appearing to now run normally with no lights however I really did not run it that long, but I am sure I did go past the 2000rpm mark. Got the boat home and started to look things over. Pulled both plugs and found the gap to be around .070. Both plugs were wet, but no real signs of carbon fouling. Not know a lot about outboards I am puzzled about what happened and afraid to take the boat out again with new plugs. I seems the the plugs fouled with all the idleing and thier condition, but I really do not understand the no oil light. Sorry for the long post."
