No motor turn over 1976 165 hp

I have a (guessing 1976 Mercruiser 165 hp) I have tried jumping the battery charged the battery but when I hook up the battery everything else works lights, radio, etc. when i turn the key the oil light comes on but starter doesn't kick in to turn the motor I tried tapping the starter but checked wires to starter all has power. I checked fuses I don't know what else to check to get my boat running.

I think I figured out my starting problem but thanks to those that viewed my post I had a bad starter
