No main jet

I have a 1992 40hp johnson. I

I have a 1992 40hp johnson. I am rebuilding the carbs on it. Is there not a main jet? All I see is a idle jet and the needle value. Is this right? If so how does it get the fuel in there. I see where the pick up goes to the idle jet but not the needle value. Plus is the needle value 2 1/2 from seated sound right. Thanks.
