.No fwd.,Prop shaft has play in it,moves in and out when in there is fwd gear but out about a quarter inch the prop just slips,I can also see nice shiny metal when it is out,so that tells me it shouldn't out .I have looked in the seloc manual but it doesn't tell me what is wrong, only how to strip and assemble it.I haven't a clue what caused it.Last week I had no rev.,so I adjusted the the cable.I don't think this had anything to do with it. As it stands, lwr unit in vice awaiting attention, all help,as always, greatly appreciated ,without your previous help I would now have thrown this motor in the deepest hole I could find, which might not be a bad idea, but I'm a wee bit stubborn .Thank you all in advance."

"Hi Bandit,how's the fishi

"Hi Bandit, how's the fishing? Thanks for the quick reply. It goes into rev and holds the gear, but in fwd ,the prop shaft moves rearwards that fraction to let it slip,I take it that means I need a replacement gears etc.etc.etc.I think I'll get out the shovel. But, just out of curiosity what would you think it would take to fix this, apart from the hole it would put in my pocket? And while the the thought is there,is there some place I can check which lwr. units I could interchange?Or should I just follow through on my earlier thought?

None of the choices is good. F

None of the choices is good. Finding a replacement is ~$500. Rebuilding it is more. Drop the oil. If it is milky than you are dead.
