VE200SLETC = 1993 200hp Evinrude................
That engine has a shift interrupter switch that when shifting, knocks out the ignition on the starboard bank (cyl 1,3,5) for a fraction of a second (too quick to notice) to ease the shifting action. On some boats (not all) with high pitch propellers, it is impossible to shift OUT of gear if that switch is not operable.
It sounds like, in your case, that possibly a bit of corrosion possibly has built up in the linkages... or the switch has failed (jammed closed) and is shorting out the starboard bank of cylinders (1,3,5).
Follow the shift linkage at the engine to a point whereas you locate the shift interrupter switch.... when you find it, disconnect the clack/yellow wire that leads from it to the powerpack.
If you now have proper spark, clean away whatever (corrosion?) is causing it to stick, or replace the switch... or both. Let us know what you find.
