"1995 Regal Comm.32 with 5.8 H

"1995 Regal Comm.32 with 5.8 HO EFI Prestolite brand alternator.Not charging.I remove alt. let it be checked in shop. Is good.I put it back , clean connection wires.Still shows no charge.Whats wrong???"
 
"How many wires are on the alt

"How many wires are on the alternator, is it a single wire or three wire? The three wire ones require excitation to the field coils, so you should see 12 volts at one of the terminals, I believe it may be the purple wire, not sure though. Turn on the ignition and check for voltage at the back of the alternator. If it worked OK at the shop and it is a three wire unit, then it is most likely not getting voltage to the field coils. I am sure others will chime in with more info.

What is the guage showing while running?
Have you tested the alternator AT the alternator?
What about the resistor? There should be one in line?
Need more info.........."
