NIssan 90 no forward or reverse

Ok decided to take the boat out for its first run today everything was going great till all of a sudden it lost forward and reverse with no warning it just acted like it was in nutral i have checked the linkage to the transfer case and it is moving and working just does not cache the gears if anyone has any ideas as to what this could be let me know i'm hoping we wont have to have the transfer case rebuilt BTW transfer case oil was drained and filled during winterization of boat prior to parking it for the winter Any Checks or things that you guys can think of to look at let know
 
What is your actual model (not just HP)? You could have a spun prop, bad shift cable to the RC (or clevis that fell off), or the shift coupler (that joins the cam rod and the shift rod) may be disconnected. With the motor off and the boat out of the water, you should be able to turn the prop by hand when in N. Then if you shift into F or R while turning the prop, you should feel it engage.
