Nissan 8HP Cable/Controls question

My boat came with remote controls for my Nissan NS8B. I'm currently replacing the cables because they were getting sticky. Here's what the controls look like (no brand name anywhere that I can find):



Here is the view as I was taking it apart. Notice where the cables come into the control box, where they are supposed to be 'held' there is a little piece of plexiglass or something that is broken, and I need to replace it.


Where would I find a new one and is it even what is supposed to be there??

The clevis of each cable is retained on the pin at the arm by an "E" or "C" clip (or some call them a Jesus clip, because of an utterance some mechanics emit as the clip flies across the shop).

The collar of the cable is typically retained in position at the case edge by a U-shaped metal clip. The Yamaha 9.9 4-stroke uses a similar clip at the engine end.
