Nissan 40 HP PLUS NS40D

We recently had some adverse weather in the UP and lost the upper motor cover of our Nissan 40HP PLUS NS40D motor. Two questions, what does the PLUS stand for and any idea on what year this make and model was? Thanks!

The PLUS may have automatic oiling. They were made somewhere around 1992, so it's more than 20 years old. A new cowl (the exact parts depends on whether your is Remote or Tiller, IIRC), would run in excess of $500 for a D2... more than the motor is worth, so you will be calling salvage yards.
