Hello I'm a newbie to bigger and 4 stroke outboards. I have only had old 2 stroke mercs in the past My new boat has a 150hp merc 4 stroke. I have a question maybe a dumb one but it's a lot of money and worry about it
the motor starts and warms up fine runs great. My only question is when I'm up on plane and running hard for quite a ways when I slow down stop and I'm at an idle it's looks like steam or smoke coming out of the low idle exhaust port? The stream off the water pump seems to be fine (pee hole) at idle or full throttle. Today the outside temp was 52 degs when I got on the water the surface temp on the lake water was 71 degs. When I got down the lake and stopped it looks like steam coming out of the low idle exhaust and the water coming out of the pee hole when I put my hand in it it was warmer than the lake water. Does this sound normal? Or maybe a problem with the water pump or The impeller? Please help. Thank you
