Newbie needs Feedback on 2003 140 HP Four Stroke

Need help!Looking to buy a 2003 Hurricane Deck Boat with a 140 Johnson Four Stroke with 180 hrs. Anyone have any comments good or bad on this motor?My wife is concerned because all she sees is Yamaha and Mercury motors!Dealer is throwing in a 1 year warranty!Thanks in advance

Great running motor, yes. Smooth and quiet. But I have a 22' Hurricane, used to have a 115 on it, and it would barely plane out. Put my current 225 on it and now has plenty of power, will do 50 on a very good day. So, I wonder about the 140 four stroke being underpowered. Get a good "on the water" test and see if you think you will need more power.

Ask dealer/service dept about the very famous Suzuki "Engine Holder corrosion/rotting problem" where the steel plugs they used are rusting and corroding the engine holder, causing $4k repair bills.
