newbie asking questions

Hello, I am new here and new to working on outboards. Just acquired a 1969 6 HP Evinrude at the scrap yard. It is locked up or frozen, and when pouring diesel into cylinders to try to loosen up, found that it just runs straight thru the piston and out the bottom of the engine. this is the bottom cylinder. What am I facing and probable cost to get this partof engine straight? Thanks for any input.
 
First remove the lower unit as it might be the part that is jammed up.---------The exhaust ports are open with the piston at the bottom of the cylinder. Oil will leak straight thru the motor.------------These motors are precision machines and you will need to take it all apart to make sure that the needle bearings on the crankshaft / connecting rod are in good condition.------Piston rings are likely jammed in the grooves as well.----------------No short cuts to this job in most cases.-------Wonderful motor if you do get it fixed up.

I'm thinking you would be able to find another 6 hp Evinrude in nice shape, for less than what you would pay retail in parts to resurrect this one from seizure world. It sounds like it's last owner knew it was ready for the happy hunting ground.

Might be good for some spare parts, or odds and ends to be sold on Ebay.

Thanks for the info., especially about the piston being at bottom of hole. After 3 1/2 hours soaking, light pressure by hand, got it freed up. Now have compression and fire at the plugs. Just got to get some fresh gas mix an d tank and try it out.
Probably be asking for help as this developes.
