First post here .. lol .. so here it goes.

I bought a 1990 campion back in Feb of this year. Boat almost killed me twice bringing
it back through the mountains on the snowy roads.

I had a survey done on the boat before I bought it and it came back good.

When I got it home... 1300 km's latter ..... it was a completely different story.

The list of repairs are as follows:

2 new manifolds from improper winterization.
New stereo. The turn knob AM/FM radio just wasn't cutting it.
4 new speakers as the old ones were blown.
Mooring covers re threaded as they were rotten.
Strip and sealed boat hull to remove the yellow and oxidization.
Stipped off all the old decals
Re vinyled the entire interior
New carpets
Bellows and gimble bearing
Trim pump
Trim rams
Complete trailer re wiring
Replaced windshield supports
New bilge pump
New fuel pump

Which now bring me down to engine replacement.
The block was cracked in 3 different places.

So we can now add engine replacement to the long list of stuff I have had to
replace on this boat.

Its been replaced but now I'm having yet ... another problem.

I hooked up the muffs to turn it over but I have no water pressure coming in from the drive.
I turned off the engine as soon as I knew the water wasn't coming in the engine which might have been
maybe 30 seconds to a min. I pulled off all the hoses at the t-stat housing and they were bone dry.
There is no T-stat in the block if thats makes a difference.

I did not do the engine replacement. The marine pulled the old motor after I striped it down and I rebulit it from the block up with all my stuff off the old motor. It was running fine and I was definitely getting water pumped
through the unit and engine before I sent it off to replace the engine core but now nothing.
The old engine never over heated on the muffs or on the water ( that when I found the engine was internally cracked ) so I know it was getting cooling.
Plus when on the muffs.. I could see the water running through the system and exiting where it should

Things I have tried include a back flush through the intake on the engine and the
water flows no problem back through the intake on the lower unit where the muffs would go.

I also hooked up the hose to the thermostat housing and watched the water flow through and
back out where the water usually exits the unit when its working normally. So I know its not plugged
inside the engine nor engine to unit exit. Its also not plugged from the engine to the intake of the unit.

I totally filled the engine with water and then hooked up the muffs to see if the system needed bleeding
of sorts. That didn't work.

I checked for a kinked hose between the unit and through the transom.

I can feel the suction from the pump on the engine block.

The only thing left I can think of is the pump in the unit but why would it work so well before
I sent the boat in for a new block but not after??? They didn't separate the upper and lower unit
from what I know when they replaced the engine. Anything else I need to check for? Is there a 1 way valve between the unit and the engine that might have gone on backwards ? Also.. if I need to pull
the lower unit, anyone know the size allen key I need to separate the lower and upper unit?

Some would say take it back to the marina but honestly... it would cost more in gas to get it there
then it would for a new pump kit if thats whats needed and would like to try and figure this out tomorrow
instead of waiting a week for the marina to have a look at my boat;

Its a 4.3 with a Alpha one drive.

Anything else I need to check for?
What did the engine coupler splines look like...were they square cut or rounded off? Have someone turn the engine over a few cranks while you look at the drive shaft at the coupler and see if it is spinning. If it is not turning when the engine cranks then the coupler is shot. It might be easier to see the shaft turn if you use some white chalk and place a stripe on the shaft. If it is turning then you need to open the LU and check/replace the impeller.

After I sent pictures in to the guys boss at the survey company.... lol.. trust me .. I got my money back.
As for the boat.. At this point.. I'm so far into this boat it doesn't even matter. I'm literally a upper and lower unit
away from owning a brand new boat.
