Hi, I am venturing into the boating world for the first time. I was given an 18ft Orrion tri-hull with a Merc BlackMax 150. From the serial number, it is a 1978 engine. My question is how do I round up the necessary parts for making this vessel water ready? I need to completely redo the trim (pump, rams etc) and I can't find the part numbers for ordering. Will aftermarket kits found at WestMarine or other dealers be sufficient? Thanks advance.

Hey,
I have been boating for a year now and found the HULL TRUTH forum for be very helpful. I did searches of the questions I had and it helped a lot. I would take your time and double check parts and part numbers before you buy or you will waste $$$. Contact the vendor and check that the part will fit your model boat or engine. I found West Marine to be more expensive then searching the Internet for the items I needed. It may be wise to hire a mobile mechanic to test out the equipment and give you some tips. If you are new to outboard engines then you can cause a lot of expensive damage with the turn of the key. Good Luck.
